Shipping Previously we used Royal Mail to carry our small packets and couriers for our larger parcels. Due to recent problems with the standard postal system we have now switched to using home delivery services for most smaller packages, the same ones that are used by Amazon, catalogue stores and so on. This means that deliveries will take a day or so longer to get to you, however all but the smallest packages travel completely separately from the Royal Mail, are insured and tracked. We have had to adjust prices a little to accommodate the different price structure, but the shipping cost is still included in the price displayed on site for UK customers. Packages are posted or collected by couriers on Monday afternoons through to Saturdays, but not Bank Holidays. Anything that does need to go by Royal Mail is put directly into the postal system by us at the local depot and avoids any delays in the Post Office network. Overseas customers shipping costs are calculated depending on total weight, and added on at the checkout. If you need something more urgently than that, you can pay extra at the checkout for next working day delivery, Monday to Friday, if ordered before noon. After about 2pm all despatches for the day have gone out. Larger parcels still travel by courier, and we use a number of different ones depending on shipment sizes - UPS, DHL, and TNT are the most common ones, and most deliver within a couple of days. However if you order after lunchtime on a Friday nothing is likely to move via courier until Monday.

Overseas shipping costs Our prices already include UK shipping, including BFPO addresses for small packages and to the Channel Islands. If you are ordering from overseas, here is what to do. Firstly, check the international stockists list - especially if you are in the USA, Asia or Australia. It could save you a lot of money and you could get the item much quicker if you can find it at a local stockist in your part of the world. If you can't source it nearer then we are happy to ship it out to you. Our policy is to charge (as near as possible, in price bands) only the difference between the cost of shipping to you, and the cost of shipping within the UK. For something of about 1kg in weight this might mean an extra £8 to the USA. Compare this to some of our competitors who might charge you several times that amount. Customers in Spain please make sure you have read this page before ordering. Overseas Airsure For overseas mail up to 2kg choose the Airsure option for online tracking and delivery confirmation. This is a Royal Mail service which costs approximately £5 extra. Without this option, there is no tracking number provided for small overseas parcels.

Value added tax The prices shown on this site include UK VAT. Sorry but we are generally unable to discount VAT (e.g. for foreign customers or Channel Islanders), as under the simpler small business scheme we operate through, our accountants advise we must still have to pay a percentage of the tax we didn't collect from you to the UK government, which for many products would wipe out most of our profit - in other words, we would stump up your VAT discount, not the tax man. We can sometimes make exceptions for larger orders however.

Missing a delivery? We sometimes have problems with slow deliveries in the run up to Christmas, but at any time of year a parcel delivery can go wrong. We would say that over 99% of all our parcels arrive at UK destinations within 3-5 working days, and abroad within 6 working days. If a longer time than that has passed since your parcel was despatched, then there is usually a problem, so please chase it up at your end. What goes wrong The most common reason for a missing parcel is that nobody was there to receive it. Delivery staff are supposed to leave a note, but sometimes they don't (perhaps because the intention is to try and deliver again tomorrow), and often any slips they do leave can be mislaid or thrown away with junk mail. Sometimes they can't find your address, especially if it's a temporary delivery person doing the rounds. So it sits at the depot awaiting further instructions, but you don't know it's there. At any time of year parcels can get misrouted to a wrong delivery depot and have to make a round-about trip to get to you. Sometimes customers give us the wrong address to send the parcel to, so it is discovered in the possession of a neighbour. And sometimes there is local or national postal disruption due to industrial action, weather conditions, etc. What to do First, check with your neighbours, in your outhouses, by dustbins, in side alleyways etc. - and also ask family members if they took in a parcel, put it somewhere safe and forgot to tell you (it does happen!). Also check any junk mail you received in case a parcel notice got put in the bin accidentally.
